Oh me, oh my
I did it. The world did not end. I did it. More details to come. Wooo-eeee. What a weekend.

BUT, I just heard about this on the radio. Rep. Ben Chandler and Rep. Norm Dicks, Chair of the House Appropriations subcommittee, were scheduled to fly to Hazard to do a flyover of mountaintop removal sites and to talk to people impacted by it. They were supposed to fly on a plane from the Department of the Interior, but the pilot had "inadvertently" left a switch on the night before that killed the battery. What experienced pilot would happen to overlook something so crucial?! AHHH! There was SO much work put into this trip by KFTC staff and members. This was a big thing for us, and to hear that it fell apart like that--gahhh! There are suggestions of sabotage in a few of the articles I've seen, and that wouldn't be a huge shock, I guess. The director of the Office of Surface Mining was supposed to accompany them, adding his spin to the mix, but canceled. How suspicious is that?! The 'other side' can't come and try to contradict what they would've seen and heard, so no one is able to go? I'm just disgusted. I'll try to find out more once I get my lazy butt off to work.

The world didn't end...now I'm all curious!

And yeah, that thing with the plane sounds like an old casino trick to keep high rollers at their hotel after they promise them a trip home on a private plane. Or at least they did that in the movie Casino. The OSM seems pretty shady in this state, but I would almost have to expect it considering the industry they're in contact with.
